The mission of the Chicago Department of Revenue is to support vital city infrastructure and services by maximizing revenue collections while providing superior customer service. In the year 2000, Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed Director Bea Reyna-Hickey as Director of Revenue. Chicago City has been served by Ms. Reyna-Hickey with distinction in the Departments of Housing and Aviation. Chicago Revenue Department is divided into four major divisions, i.e. Tax, Citation Administration, Payment Processing and Accounts Receivable/Cost Recovery.
The work of Tax Division is to collect, audit and offer customer service to all municipal taxes. The work of Citation Administration Division is to see parking facility and red-light ticket collections and customer service. Neighborhood based payment centers, as well as payment centers at City Hall and 400 W are operated by the Payment Processing Division. Accounts Receivable/Cost Recovery is liable for collecting a variety of receivables including ambulance bills and cost recovery from damages to City properties.
