
International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival Started in Harbin, China on January 5, 2009. This year visitor will see sculpture of 100,000 cubic meters of ice with cost of 50 million yuan.
Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province, is one of the china's coldest places. Winter temperatures can drop to below -35 C.

Displayed Sculptures range are Chinese-style pagodas to Buddhas to fully functional slides ride in which children can slide down.


There will be around 800,000 tourists to be visit at Festival. Most of them (90 percent) from China are expected to make the trip to Harbin to enjoy festival. There is also special Disney theme where all character and fantasy of Disney are displayed.

It will have five sections, the art of snow, snow sports, snow culture, snow tourism and a snow economy. A wide range of activities like winter swimming are planned to be held on city squares around Harbin in the coming two months.
