"Birth of the Kannada State” is celebrated every year on 1st November. The birth of Kannada State is identified as Kannada Rajyotsava or the Karnataka Formation Day.

On 1st November, 1956 all the regions in South India was combined into one state called Karnataka. Later in 1973, Mysore was renamed to Karnataka. Karnataka is the princely state of Mysore. Gowda said, "Kannada Rajyotsava has been declared a national festival. To celebrate it in a meaningful way and with more employee participation, the government by invoking Section 3 of the Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National Festivals) Act 1963 has declared a holiday on November 1”.
