On Friday, pop star's,  50-year-old, the request to adopt a three-year-old child from Malawi was rejected by the Judge citing requirement that adoptive parents living in the country for 18 to 24 months, The Associated Press reported.

Hearing on the appeal is expected to start next week after the court on Friday rejected the U.S. pop diva's bid to adopt a three-year-old girl who would have been a sister to another adopted Malawi toddler.

As with Madonna's adoption of her son David Banda, 3, completed in 2008 in Malawi, her petition to adopt a girl named Chifundo "Mercy" James caused critics to complain that the pop star tried to circumvent laws prohibiting nonresidents from Malawi to adopt children.

The Judge also noted that Chifundo has been placed in one of the best Malawi orphanage, and is no longer suffers to grinding poverty endured by her mother died in child birth. Madonna has set up a charity, Raise Malawi, which provides support for orphans and vulnerable children. Read More Information Click Here.
