Power to the Peaceful Festival 2009

Power to the Peaceful Festival 2009, will be held on Saturday 12th September at 9 to 5 p.m. in San Francisco’s beautiful, Green tree lined Speedway Meadow, Golden Gate Park and on Sunday 13th September 2009 at 10 to 9 p.m. in S.F. War Memorial Building, Herbst Theater & Green Ballroom. This is the 11th annual function of Power to the Peaceful Festival 2009. In this occasion, there are free days of music, arts, yoga, Brazilian arts workshop and action.

On Saturday 12 September 2009, there will be main stage performances by music luminaries like Alanis Morissette, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Cherine Anderson , Sly & Robbie, Sellassie, Vieux Farka Toure’ and a variety of renowned DJ’s like Ren the Vinyl Archaeologist, Miguel Miggs, DJ Adnan and DJ Heyman. The festival will start with 1000 Yogis for Peace; Yoga Tree SF with teacher Seane Corn sponsors a morning yoga practice. Keynote speaker, Namkha Rinpoche will address global, personal peace and the main practice of Buddhism is compassion and patience.

This festival is a family-friendly event on Saturday. In this festival, their will be a kid’s zone with conscious flag making, carnival games, marionettes, face painting, stilt walkers, and a chill tent for feeding and napping. The Kids Zone will perform Peace Outs, PopLyfe, Gabby La La, Jaden, Bird School PTTP Band and the Bay Area Girls on Stage.

On Sunday 13 September 2009, it will be a second day of music, action and arts. These performances will be presented by Michael Franti and Care.org. There are three informative, life changing and fun workshops like rare, intimate conversations with Michael Franti followed by wine, organic food, beer and concert with Michael Franti & brazilian dancers and drummers at the historic, gorgeous Herbst Theater. In Sunday’s program, to expand and serve your body, spirit and mind, there are also Yoga and Brazilian Dance Workshops.
