Burmese pythons can grow up to 20 feet and are not native to Florida that they are imported as pets. They are usually set loose in the Everglades and have been seen around Florida according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

if the snake bit the girl the

if the snake bit the girl the girl would have screamedand would have made a loud scene which i think the parents would have heard the girl
also the snake looks to thin and small to take the child without a fight. i think the parrent would have heard the fight

That snake is far too small

That snake is far too small to attack and kill a 2 yr old child. A snake that size might be eating small rabbits. This just doesn't pass the smell test.

This is not the snakes fault

This is not the snakes fault it is the irrisponsable owners lack of knowledge of the snake and therefore should be held responsible for his actions . The sad loss of a childs life especialy through the horrible way she suffered it sickens me deeply and emotionaly .
I keep burmese pythons as pets I respect them and also realise there potencial harm that they can cause . But needless to say that I am aware of this and therefore take all the precautions I need to and through my experience with these snakes can enjoy and appreciate them ....

I think the owner killed his

I think the owner killed his kid.. I agree with everything you just said. now people are going to hate and fear snakes and put them into that taboo category or at least ingrain the fear they already have more so . it's the few the wrecks things for the majority. I'm waiting for the breaking story showing evidence of strangle NOT dissimilar to a hand or at least not like the snake.

Agree. That snake is far too

There is a reason some

There is a reason some species are in their own nature land. There are food resources to keep them there. All people to keep a wild animals as pets, combine them small places as boxes; having a diluted idea like "now they do not have to look for their food" seem to me is insane and not human. Like one said , destroying ecosystem in Everglade. Can not be more true. Like bringing bees for one reason to area , destroying local bees. Like bringing the kudzu vine for a reason before testing in limited area at least 10 years and destroying nature species. It is just insane. There should be strict law keeping dangerous , non trainable convicted, heavily fined... Children should be thought captivating a free animal in a small places are not humane. Their nature should be in their environment. If they travel in another land by ship for instance, manage to survive, it means they have been in evolution anyway. This takes years. Even that, you may give up some other species. Keeping as pet is just not humane. Selling those animals should be crime. This family is just end of the chain.

I am a snake owner myself,

I am a snake owner myself, only because my 8 year old daughter begged me since she was 3 to get one. However, I was very selective as to what kind of snake we chose to adopt. Anyway, I would never keep a monster like a burmese python in the house with my child!! For the same reasons, I check the fire alarm, and make sure the front door is locked. As a parent, you need to KNOW your child is safe. We have four dogs including 2 pitbulls, but the difference between a dog and a snake is that dogs can be trained to be however you want them to be. A snake has a brain smaller than a pea, and they function strictly on instinct. Its no surprise the snake tried to eat the kid. He was hungry and was probably no longer satisfied with just rabbits. The only way to keep feeding an 18 foot long burmese python snake is to start sacrificing larger animals (cats, dogs...) HONESTLY!!!! NOT a good environment by any means for a small child!! I don't believe anyone at all should be allowed to own such a large and dangerous beast.

This story had the most

This story had the most grammer errors I have ever seen. these people really need to revise it. It heard my eyes to read this.

You errors are similar to the

You errors are similar to the errors present in the article. But you are right they need to revise it.

I agree............ burmese

I agree............ burmese pythons in captivity must be in a secure tank, my python is over 5 meters long, 250 pounds and about 100 times stronger than myself, hes inclosure has 6 pad locks and also 1 lock and key, .... its too bad this had too happen because it could have been prevented!

Anyone that has a dangerous

Anyone that has a dangerous snake in their home is crazy but anyone having one in a home with children is being a bad parent. I agree he should be charged with child endangering. Maybe he should be charged with murder because this was bound to happen. The mother should also be charged. Its to bad the little girl had no say so in the matter, she was just an innocent child depending on her mother for safety. She is in gods hands now where she will be safe forever.

I have kept reptiles as pets

I have kept reptiles as pets for almost 20 years, and yes, my children were raised around them from a young age. Just as with dogs, snakes can be kept responsibly, but are a danger to humans if not raised and cared for properly.

12 people have died from pet snakes in the last 25 years. Compare that with dogs or even horses and it's statistically low. Unfortunately, there will always be irresponsible pet owners of all kinds, and people and animals will suffer from it.

The statistics are higher to

The statistics are higher to compare because NORMAL pets (Dogs and horses) are more common and more abundant. You are comparing apples with oranges, which makes it an illegitimate comparison.

Shreddy, I agree. A python

Shreddy, I agree. A python should NEVER be kept in the home as a pet. If one wants to see a python, let them go to the zoo or reptile farm! How sad that this little girl had to die because of the parents selfish need to have an "exotic" pet. She is with God now, in His excellent care. It is no wonder The Everglades in Florida are over run by these snakes. People keep them as a novelty, then when they get too big, or start eating pets, they dump them in The Everglades where they have no natural predators. These snakes are now depleting the controlled alligator population, resulting the natural balance of the ecosystem. I must say, my heart goes out to the parents, NO PARENT SHOULD HAVE TO SEE THEIR CHILD DIE, especially by this hideous means. Let this be a lesson to all the morons out there who love keeping exotic wild animals, God forbid something like this should ever happen to them.

Do you proofread articles

Do you proofread articles before posting them? I can't believe how many grammatical errors there are!

So sad. How can anyone have

So sad. How can anyone have enjoyment from raising pets like snakes is beyond me. People who can't take care of their pets should not be allowed to have children or live around people either. Shame on them. I am scared out of my mind just thinking someone might be missing their "pet". I know I'll have nightmares about this.

I have 6 snakes but only 1 is

I have 6 snakes but only 1 is a burmese snake. With these snakes you have to be certain that your cage has locks and there is no way they can escape. It saddens me that this has happened, my point is if you are going to own a snake as with any pet you have to know the dangers and responibilites of ownership. I just wonder what kind of enclosure he had for this snake because it a very strong snake even at 4ft my burmese is very strong.

you better be careful

you better be careful everybody thinks he or she is very smart until destiny overwhelms them
