Retired General and former Secretary of State Colin Powell endorsed Senator Barack Obama for President.
Powell's endorsement complicate any attempt by John McCain and others within the Republican Party to cast Obama as naive in world affairs and unprepared to lead to a dangerous time. Obama now has a ready retort: "Well, Colin Powell seems to depend on my opinion, that why I supported me."
In politics, timing is everything, and Powell's recommendation comes at a sweet spot for Obama. Colin Powell spoke to Reporters after leaving the NBC studio where he was on Meet the Press and endorsed Barack Obama.
On the surface, there is nothing that is readily apparent that would link the two men. Colin Powell is a warrior. Barack Obama is not. Powell worked his way through ROTC for college with the highest positions in the nation that can take military career. She has won their positions with hard work and ability. Obama was elected, continuously and with a strong political Chicago and then to the national political scene. Powell has honestly and courageously fought the enemies of our nation and become the most precious of duty, led his men on the battlefield. Obama turned gray hair debating Hillary Clinton.
