Beijing: Wrestler Sushil Kumar India has given one more reason to encourage earned when he won the bronze medal in the 66 kg freestyle category at the Olympic Games in Beijing Wednesday.

Sushil defeated Leonid Spiridonov of Kazakhstan 3-1 in the repechage match for men freestyle wrestling 66 kg India India win the first medal fight since the 1952 Helsinki Games.

It is only the second Indian after wrestler Khashaba Jadhav Dadasaheb to win an Olympic medal. Jadhav won a bronze medal in the Games of 1952.

In the first repechage rounds Sushil overcome the challenge of the USA Doug Schwab and Belarrussian Albert Batyrov in the first two rounds repechage.

Sushil had lost to Ukrainian Andriy Stadnik in his quarter-final match.

The gold medal was won by world champion Ramazan Sahin of Turkey while Stadnik had to be taken with the money.

Sahin, who is also the champion of Europe, won the match 2-2, 2-1, 2-2.

The other bronze went to Otar Tushishvili of Georgia, a semi-final loser to Sahin.

It is also the first time since 1952 that India has two Olympic medals.

Earlier, Abhinav Bindra won the first gold medal of the Olympics for the country in the 10meter Air Rifle.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar India claimed the second medal Beijing Olympics when he won the bronze in the 66 kg freestyle event on Wednesday.

Kumar beat Leonid Spiridonov of Kazakhstan 3:1, with scores of 2-1, 0-1, 1-0 in the three cycles.

Spiridonov had finished fourth in the weight category 66 kg in Athens, while Kumar took 14th place.

This is the first time since 1952 Helsinki Olympics as India won two medals in one Olympics.

Dadasaheb Khashaba Jadhav is the last Indian wrestler to win a medal when he won the bronze in 1952.

Earlier, Abhinav Bindra gave India its first gold medal of the Olympics when he won the 10 m Air Rifle.

Sushil Kumar, who has a bye the first round, lost to Ukraine 1-8 on Andry Stadnik in the pre-quarter finals on technical issues.

But despite the defeat and because of the text, he was taken to fight against the USA Pulp Schwab repechage in a fight, which he won 3-1 and won the right to meet Albert Batyrov of Belarus.

India has won the series 3-1 to make it too for the bronze medal round, where he beat Spiridonov.

Ramazan Shahin of Turkey took the gold, beating Stadnik, Sushil Kumar of the conqueror in the pre-quarter finals.

In the gold medal fight, Stadnik took the first period 2-2 by scoring the final point. Shahin then recovered the next 2-1. The period was to decide 2-2 after the first two minutes, but Shahin scored the last point and, therefore, won the fight.

This is the first gold medal won by Turkey at the Games of Beijing "tournament fight.
