Accenture Match Play 2009 Live Score card and Schedule

Accenture is a global umbrella sponsor of the World Golf Championships and title sponsor of the series season-opening event, the Accenture Match Play Championship. 2009 Accenture Match Play Championship will take place February 25 - March 1, 2009, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona. The cornerstone event of WGCs - Accenture Match Play Championship, certainly reflects the global nature of golf. A total of 47 players from countries outside the U.S., representing 19 countries and tying a record for most countries in 2006. Europe was the most represented with 20 players, followed by Australia and South Africa with eight each. The British led the way for Europe to seven. For the first time in its storied 11-year history that a player from Taiwan competed in the prestigious WGCs event.

Tiger Woods returned to competitive triumphant for the first time in eight months and shows no signs of rust in his game at the World Golf Championships Accenture Match Play Championship Wednesday, February 25, 2009. World No. 1 cruise to victory over Australian Brendan Jones, 3 and 2 in the opening round of the five-day head-to-head tournament. Woods advances to second round on Thursday where he will face Tim Clark of South Africa.

2008 Winner – Tiger Woods

In a spectacular display of match-play capability, the world's No. 1 golfer, Tiger Woods, defeated Stewart Cink 8 and 7 to win his third Accenture Match Play Championship at The Gallery Golf Club just north of Tucson. The 36-hole championship match was the largest margin of victory in a final in the 10-year history of the World Golf Championships event.

2007 Winner—Henrik Stenson

Sweden's Henrik Stenson unseated defending champion Geoff Ogilvy 2 & 1 to win the 2007 Accenture Match Play Championship, conducted at the South Course of the Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain, just outside Tucson. Both golfers never led by more than two holes during this hard-fought, head-to-head match.

2006 Winner—Geoff Ogilvy

In his first appearance at the Accenture Match Play Championship, Australian Geoff Ogilvy defeated Davis Love III in the United States 3 & 2 to win $ 1.3 million first prize purse. Despite the battle back and forth with Love III for most of the match, Ogilvy did not need all 36 holes to win the championship title. Instead, he clinched the match, when he went eagle birdie on 29 and 30 hole.

2005 Winner—David Toms

David Toms captured his first World Golf Championships event by winning the 2005 Accenture Match Play Championship. Toms was so comfortable on the course, he did the five-day single-elimination event look easy. On Friday in the tournament, he made seven Birdie crowding Phil Mickelson in the third round, 4 & 2 He kept up his sparkling play defeating Australian Adam Scott, 2 & 1 and Englishman Ian Poulter, 3 & 2 in Saturday's quarter and semifinals rounds to reach the championship match.
