Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the U.S. federal government agency that collects taxes and enforces the internal revenue laws.

On November, Internal Revenue Service issued the 2009 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.

What is irs mileage rate For 2009?

The standard mileage rates for use of a car, vans, pick-up or panel trucks will be :

  • 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations
  • 24 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
  • 55 cents per mile for business miles driven

The standard mileage records for business is based on an annual survey of the fixed and variable costs of operating a vehicle.
