Hydrogen car SAHIMO that gets over 1,336 MPG
The students of the Turkey's Sakarya University have made a remarkable attempt by creating Europe’s most fuel-efficient vehicle. The hydrogen car named Sahimo’s current range is about 568 km on 1 liter of fuel (about 1,336 miles per gallon). This car is made up of 90 percent carbon fiber. The car travels a very big distance with very less fuel.
The weight of the car is only 240 pounds (110 kilograms). The Sahimo won third most efficient vehicle in Europe’s 26th Shell Eco Marathon. A fourth-year student in the engineering department at Sakarya University, Melemez told that they are planning to raise their record to push the range of the car to a full 1,000 km per 1 liter of fuel and they believe they can do it before participating in the 2009 Global Green Challenge competition in Australia in this October.
The Sakarya University Advanced Technologies Implementation Group (SAITEM) developed the Sahimo hydrogen car with 40 member group. The car had cost $170,000 to build so you have to think about running and buying it. It is reported that the next task of the team is to work on a non-piloted aircraft and they are trying to get the support of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).
